  • Suggestions to add stuff that script programmers use

    These suggestions are intended to be useful for script programmers. The following suggestions should be able to be controlled by the server.

    1. Set maximum ammo count
    2. Set the current ammo count
    3. Set the max block count
    4. Set the current block count
    5. Set the max grenade count
    6. Set the current grenade count
    7. Set a player's velocity
    8. Set the gravity on a player by player basis
    9. Change the color of an existing block
    10. Set the fog density.
    11. Implement client side invisibility (so that players can be hit by bullets while invisible)

    The more difficult list:
    1. Allow the server complete control of guns. The server can send kv6 files for new guns and can control the rate of fire, and so forth.
    2. Allow the server to make the client send a message when a server specified key is pressed or released. This essentially allows the server to make "hotkeys"
    3. Allow the server to place custom kv6 models on the map at a server controlled position. In addition, the server can control things like the angle, velocity and angular velocity of the model.

    I'll probably change this list when I think of more stuff.

    Allow the server to send text, images, and/or draw commands for display on the HUD and map. (Also, improve the map to incrementally update instead of only updating after pressing M)

    This allows us to build more advanced UI, esp. in combination with custom hotkeys(hotkey-based menus, for example). It also helps in clarifying existing features, for example:

    -Squads could be extended to show the location of squadmates, their status, etc.
    -New game modes would not need to chat spam or draw markers using blocks
    -Mods like classes or zombies could show customized HUDs appropriate for abilities

    this is an incredibly important thing to do as it can
    A) increase the audience of people and
    B) extend the games life through modders

    Yeah but the guys who have have never heard of SEO optimization. If Ben wants I can increase AoS popularity, but I doubt he wants too big attention right now.
