Ok so i know its possible to change player skins and weapon skins but is it possible to change the guns iron sights either through a kV6 or a mod? I am a fairly decent shot with the standered but the shape of it bugs me. |

no, there hasn't been any mods for the iron sights yet. It pisses me off too |

"Iron sights aren't a model, unlike most of the other 'editable' files in the game. They are located in the 'png' folder. Iron sights are only an image. You can change them in any image editor, such as GIMP or Paint.net. Make sure that you maintain the alpha channel, otherwise players will be blinded when they try to zoom." |

The game detects if your sights are different and fucks with you if they are |

I haven't got around to trying it personally. I'll have a play around with it myself and see what's possible. I don't understand why the contents of an image would be checked. I can't do it now, but I'll see when I get home. |

For consistency. A sight with lets say, larger crosshairs might possibly leverage a players precision. I'm guessing it does an MD5 hash on the files and checks them against the server. I messed with it myself and the game bugs out when you try this. It's probably a precautionary measure to try and help keep things fair. |

"It's probably a precautionary measure to try and help keep things fair." You hit the nail on the head there. |

Hmm... that's annoying. However, it sounds quite reasonable. |

Modding your iron sights into, say, a sniper scope could give the user a BIG advantage, I'd imagine. They lack the clutter that the standard rifle sights have and the point of impact for the bullet is much more obvious. |

I really just want to take the bolt or w.e it is off that is annoying as fuck |
#5927 Domzori Member Posted 13 years ago |
Well, if it's there, it's the same for everyone. If someone's doing well in the game, they're suffering the same obscurance as you. |

A sniper scope isn't much of a big advantage- just set the vertical bar thingy in the ironsights to the enemy and it works like a sniper scope. There's no environmental factors to adjust for./ |

"Modding your iron sights into, say, a sniper scope could give the user a BIG advantage, I'd imagine. That's why they should do away with ironsights completely and replace it with a scope for EVERYONE. |

I say just let it be editable. If you want ironsights, have them. If you want a scope, have it. If you don't want anything, you should be able to get rid of it. |

@OVERLORD: This would let anyone completely take away the ironsight and use a dot, getting rid of all practical obstruction. It'd be pretty lame. I'd rather the sights be changed completely, to something that's based off of what the model's based off of (my guess is a Gewehr 41 but I'm probably wrong). That little bolt on the left really needs to go. |

"@OVERLORD: This would let anyone completely take away the ironsight and use a dot, getting rid of all practical obstruction. It'd be pretty impressively improved." Fixed that one for ya. |

maybe sens the improved iron sights to the developer where people could have other options? |

Red dots? |

the sights are fine |
#6054 Mr. Block Member Posted 13 years ago |
No, they're not. With that recoil and little viewing area of the sight you can't see anything on your target after you fire at it. |
#6059 kelleroid Member Posted 13 years ago |
I think its intended that way |
#6060 adrix89 Member Posted 13 years ago |
you should always be able to see where and what you just shot. You should NOT have to rely on the kill message on the bottom corner to know if you got the kill. Seriously that's FPS 101. |

How do i make my own ironsights?? how do i do kv6 files?? |
#7496 Napsu67 Member Posted 13 years ago |
Iron sight is not a kv6 file as you would know if you read this thread. It's a png image in yor png folder in ace of spades-folder. |
