  • Auto-Climb toggle!
  •

Let the server-hosts choose if they want to run autoclimb or not! It'd be like a line in the config.ini file.

I can't imagine myself jumping like a bunny again to climb stairs or when playing in a natural looking terrain.

No, I seriously miss the jumping. It made hills more defensible, and when you got into fights there was alot of skill involved in navigating the hills and shooting at the same time. ALSO, you always knew who the newbs were because they'd get stuck in water.

i think it'd be cool, also, but i don't mind it now, actually. mainly because ducking doesn't give you autoclimb, and it's been worked out enough to the point of where it is good.

I'd prefer it like that. I'd prefer it if a lot of things weren't there when no-one knew what direction the game was going in and the site was just a list of servers.

I think there should be one or two classic servers where it's run on one of the earlier versions. Sadly, I doubt it'd work.

    +1 for me.

Reason: Why not? It's only a few simple lines for coding and it'll stop people from reminiscing over the past

Ha, well maps could be adapted to be slightly flatter and spaced out steps a bit. But yes I completely miss pressing jump alot. Now running around feels quite brainless tbh.

I didnt say it in the original thread but it wasnt just the autoclimb. It was the whole package. The entire movement feel was really great, it was crisp. Crouch jump got you over 2 block walls.

Once we spent half an hour or so all building an assault course completely unplanned. Parkour was really fun before autoclimb and other movement changes. Should definately have to crouch jump to get out of water imo. And the whole point was to terraform the landscape so that movement was easy. If you charged up hills over and over, you were doing it wrong. Cut some 2 by 2 by 1high steps for fast ascent. Make a tunnel system for quick movement and low bridges. I really think it was a hugely better game before autoclimb. There, its of my chest. again

PinkDozer, I couldn't find a picture but we're like two veterans at a VA center, talking about the good old days.

Most of these kids are like "no autoclimb, wtf grandpa?"

But seriously, if somebody wants to find an old version of AoS (pre autoclimb) and host a private game definitely count me in on that shit.

I'd play so I can experience it for myself. :P

And I agree with Pulchritude, can't there be a setting like "Retro Mode" (Old-school AoS) or something for the servers?
