  • Weighted votes & Registration
  •

If and when we get registration, we need a weighted vote system, so n00b votes don't count as much as veteran votes. The longer you've been playing (*cough April), the more votes you get, up to a point!

I definitely think Deuces should have a say in who gets kicked, but I think regulars should get MORE of a say.

I dunno, is this anti-democratic? Tell me what you think.

I do not think I would really like this, it seems kind of weird, I don't know. I've been playing for a while, so it doesn't have to do with me being new, or anything. it just seems weird, but maybe...!

That's a bad idea. Tiered system based on experience=no-no.

Might be a good idea for certain vote kicks.

It would be really cool if it did not just pertain to "Deuces". have the rateing system apply to everyone.

That way people can down vote known hackers, and grievers.

You might be on to something here Mega Deuce :)

Yeah, that sounds pretty exploitable. "I don't like that guy, downvoted" "He's better than me, downvoted" etc...

There happens to be many griefers that have been around for a long time.

If it were to be considered it'd have to be twinned with some kind of karma system to prevent older griefers etc.

I don't really see why this is necessary either.. in the end it's the people in the server who decide whether somebody is annoying or not - there just needs to be a clearer votekick system, e.g. a GUI element for it.
If we think some, more experienced, people deserve higher privileges in a server, why not just have a team of global server moderators of some kind?

Well, I wasn't sure about the ethics of this one, so I wanted to see what you guys thought :D

What if votekick-votes were weighted depending on how much time the player had invested in the server that night, instead of by how many weeks they've been playing AoS (what I said in the OP)? That way the Deuce12 whose been on the server for two hours has more of a say than the MysteriousJackass who just joined 10 mins ago.

Also, it'd be possible to implement without any sort of registration system and it wouldn't punish ppl just because they're new to the game.

Is THAT antidemocratic? What do you think?

Again, anyone who spends a lot of time can easily get a lot of time accumulated. ie, play legit, get bored, start votekicking people off just because he spent more time on the server than them.

Seems anti democratic. Who says new people or late joiners don't abuse the vote system? A lot of people, new or old, old or late joiner, dislike griefers and will make an effort to get rid of 'em. Most of the time.

    Hell no.

I almost never use the same name, yet I've been playing since April. Leave it alone.

I like the idea of registration under a user, then individual nicknames within each server, if that's what people prefer.

Votekicks should be even, always. I've had no trouble having political weight with other players if I play for long enough on a server.

Why bother programming in something that naturally occours anyway? If you get to know the good community within any server, you'll have more weight when you suggest votekicks.

Why do you guys care if it's Democratic or not? It's not like admins are Democratic.
