FROM "ADVANCED CALCULUS" (by Woods) Page 121, section 52.

"Curvature and Torsion. As a point P moves along a curve the direction of the tangent line changes and the osculating plane changes its orientation. The change of direction gives rise to the idea of *curvature*, and the change in the osculating plane to the idea of *torsion*.

To determine these we begin by deriving an expression for the angle between a line and another line very near it...."
