Then maybe stop behaving like a 5 year old.

    And congratulations?

cant stop laughing at the last bit ;)

Nice opinion, Maybe try be less kid and be more of a teenager perhaps?

And in my opinion, I know you dont know anything about website designing,
And you would be a horrible forum moderator since you clearly don't know what you talking about, And lastly, I dont believe in you,
So maybe be more less argue and be thankful you are on this working website,
    no need to troll. thanks.

LoL Alex, do us all a favour and stop posting crap.

All you do on this forum is post to argue with people.

The person here who Trolls is you.

You have not seen my work nor what I do.

I have something to add: both of you stop being children. Alex, stop antagonising, Jack, stop lowering yourself to the antagonist's level. The fastest method to resolve the issue, is to deny it ever existed in the first place.

I think this 'community initiative' is a good idea. We had it on the wiki too, and the vandalism wave was quickly handled, and the wiki quickly grew after it happened. I would like to see how this turns out :)

Too bad we need them because Ben barely ever interacts with the community. I wish we had some way to contact him...

I sent him an email. I'll try to get some things sorted out, see what we can do.

Like I said, I have programming and web design experience. I've also moderated and administrated forums before. I'd be happy to help where I can.

I would be up to the task of moderating the forum and seeing as to whether or not people are being considerate to the unseen rules.

So far it doesn't seem bad, sure there's a few trolls here and there. When the game starts becoming more popular, there's definitely going to need to be some kind of moderation, or else this place is going to become a shithole.

I think this is something that needs to get pushed a lot this week as a lot of people are coming on the forum and say WTF why can't we play etc...

I have lots of ideas for the forum it's self and would like to implement them.

Jackster, in my opinion you seem like someone who would be very helpful to the community, and a good moderator.

I personally wouldn't want for that role but I like to encourage positive discussions in the threads I visit, my favourites are the suggestion threads, they usually have interesting and serious (not trolling or raging) discussions.

Jackster, I was thinking - the site doesn't need to be super-complex. I proposed something like, installing PunBB (http://punbb.informer.com/) and then writing a script that interfaces with the forum to make threads in a certain board into blog posts.

That would suffice for this site, right? Plus, PunBB's simple design means integrating game and forum registration would be a doddle.

I personally think it is best to go with vBuliten as it is very well developed + themes / scripts run much better and it is uses less server resource as I know it would get over 50k requests a min at the way this game is growing and developing.

But it costs money, money I don't think Ben wants to spend. Personally, I f**king hate vBulletin. It the look and feel of the UI is awful on the user-end of things.

PunBB is simple, exactly what this game needs. Besides, Minecraft's forum ran it for a long time. They only moved to PhpBB when it was pushed for by someone else (can't remember who). The forum admin said he'd have stuck with PunBB if it was up to him.

I think either PHPBB or vBuliten as they are the most developed.

Yes VB would cost but if every one put $1 in then there would be a lot left over for the development of the game.

I agree with Abominable, I think Jackster is mature enough to handle a moderator position. You got my vote. :)

    PhpBB is bloatware.

Also, I don't see how vBulletin uses less resources than PunBB when it has more features...

I'm really pushing for PunBB just because it's so easily adaptable. Even I, a PHP newbie, can write custom scripts for it (albeit not so well, but...) - the software is ideal for a indie developer with a simple game. The size of the community isn't really an issue, so long as the servers are adequate.

PunBB is developed with simplicity in mind, the only plugin you need is for PMs, since that doesn't come as default (I find this particularly odd, but nevertheless, shows conviction to their simplicity aim).

It does use less than under developed software.

What you will see from using things like PunBB is it will gradually get slower and slower as more and more users join.

If you really must compromise, I will agree to use PhpBB. But vBulletin is a big no-no for me.
