1. Ducking is a hell of a lot more effective at saving your ass than strafing.
2. Building a bunker? Make the cover 2 blocks high. Can't see that derpy lake down there? Build your bunker lower instead of sacrificing invaluable cover (esp now since in beta 36 Rifleshots can't destroy blocks anymore)
3. Do you see your team doing autistic things (building statues to gods you don't want to know, building the biggest ass retard fortress ever at a place where it doesn't make sense, fucking up bunker building etc etc)? Tell them to actually care about the game's content and frankly remind them that "If you want a block based building simulator you should try out Minecraft, not this"
4. Aiming really isn't hard once you get the hold of it. I find both shooting from the hip and using iron sights pleasantly fine.

Will extend this with more Protips for Greenhorns

Lock on "Lock's Guide on Playing AoS (large text)"

I found a few things that always seemed to help me score big in game, and its not all that hard.

Step 1 - Every Step Counts

When on a small map, with gunfire and digging sounds, this doesn't matter. But on a big map, with little to no sounds around you, walking can give you away. I constantly hear the jingly sound of enemies (and my team) walking around a mile away. If you're trying to be stealthy, sacrifice some speed and just crouch while walking. Crouching and zooming in on your gun make NO sound whatsoever when walking. Use that.

Step 2 - No Spray Zone

Any player will tell you this;
If and when using the SMG, remember to always crouch, aim, and fire in short bursts. Going in, rushing around and just spraying your enemies with bullets won't automatically kill them then and there. It leaves you open, unless your close enough for it to work. With you open, they can kill you in a matter of seconds if they're not spraying like you. Take the time and effort to be accurate. It helps.

Step 3 - Snipe Me With a Rifle

If you're in a high place, such as the map "hallway" for example, and you're trying to snipe with an SMG, somethings wrong. SMG is meant for destroying blocks, and close quarters combat. Leave the super range sniping to the guys with rifles. The recoil, and the sheer spray of bullets, just won't kill me as many times as you'd like. If you're lucky, maybe. But Skill > Luck. Use a rifle.

More Steps to come, tell me if it helps. It always helps me.

>For KV6 Files and mods.<
A guide to mods, in brief.

>Hosting Servers?<
When you're using Pyspades, the command list can taunt you! Heres a helpful page from the PySpades guys.

Portforwarding is important, too. Here is a small step guide to hosting.

This is another guide here on the forums.

>For editing and generating new maps.<
First of all, there is a WIKI post with some good insight to the process but its really just to help you start.

-Nothings made some neat map generation tools and they are here, on his forum post. They make some cool scenarios! But i haven't had many chances to see them hosted.

-VOX-Ed can be a little bit of a pain. Try this out if you want to change a few things about the operations. This is Voxed Companion, a tool to work with Voxed.

-Oh and if you haven't got a hold of Slab6 yet, here is a post for it.

-There is also a whole other forum, full of things to look at. This is a peek into the maps and mods section.

-Hey, don't forget we have a Search feature here on the forums!
Its where i get all my smarts.

Don't be a deuce, guys! I'll add and rewrite over time, i'm sure.

Triplefox on "Learn to Map: Guide on AoS Wiki"

The guide is available on http://aceofspadeswiki.com/index.php?title=Mapping

This is a first draft. I focused on basic conceptual and technical information - what to think about in making a map, what AoS expects from maps, etc. It still needs details on "how to use Slab6" and "how to use the bitmap converter." It could also use more step-by-step on the features of Voxed, pictures, etc.

I also have an older tutorial from weeks and weeks ago sitting on these forums somewhere, which I should probably find and pull into this guide. If you've written a guide, I humbly ask for your text/image/video to come onto the wiki so that we can make an "ultimate mapping guide."

I knocked up this fairly basic guide today to post on /v/, so I may as well post it here too. I've only been playing for 2 days, so it's far from amazing. It covers the basics anyway I know next to nothing when it comes to the troubleshooting bit, but I put in what I could. Feel free to edit, improve, etc etc
