Why can't I just change my gun at the tent instead of having to kill myself every time?

It's not really a big deal or anything, I just think that the tent should have more of a function than just a health/ammo refill. I also don't like going through the death animation every time I want to quickly change to the semi to kill a spawn camper. By the time I respawn, someone else has already gotten my kill. That's my thoughts anyway.
