Don't play HoN; you're paying 30 dollars for DotA. Seriously. It's an exact copy of Dota, from the map and UI layout to the heroes you use. Exact copy, some of it slightly reskinned. Also, if you die in HoN, ever, at any point, the stupidly hardcore community will blacklist you forever and your team will always leave the second they see you with them.
LoL on the other hand, is casual and somewhat different from DotA. As long as you don't try to get advice on the forums, you should be fine.

Whoa- Subspace. I remember that. I could never get a good enough ping. I think I played it for about 3 days and got maybe one or two kills and died about 200 times.

@jackster, um you said the game is not free but you can find links to download it for free. It is copywrighted. Everything written is instantly copywrighted be it code or books. There is no need to file any paperwork, your wirtten works are protected from the moment you write them. And yes circumventing the orginal owners revenue stream by providing it for free is 100% illegal. And since it is illegal software there is a high percentage that someone might alter it with malicous intent

Reason I say that it's dying, is because more people stop playing it than newbies come. But it will rise again.

People say "Soldat is dying" since about three years. And what happend? Gathers, fcws and SCTFL is still quite active. Public servers are still on (alltough mostly crappy climbing, scripted stuff and weaponmodded).

Well, I have a game, it's called AQWorlds. It's a web-browser based MMORPG developed in AS3, with a theme based around a modern-medeival life-style; constant updates, fun people, only downside is that it's hard to get to level 30.

yeah, Soldat is dying, Beret. I used to play it a lot, too, not even very long ago. I stopped playing for a while, then got it working with WINE really well, and tried it again. there was only a few people I still remembered, and they didn't really play as often as they used to. but I heard about opensoldat, I'm not sure about the team's progress on it, but that might take off. I should start playing it again, now I can run it natively.

anyway, I can only think of Notrium, for now. it is a survival game set on some alien planet, it's pretty cool.
