This is a highly requested map concept. Basically, I took JoJoe's Heightmap Generator, created a heightmap for mountains with a flat area in the center, with a river. I then created a house in Slab6, and imported many into Voxed with U. I then added some trees, and straightened everything out. In total, the map took about 20 minutes to make, so it isn't all that great. I will update it as time goes on.

yea the flat area wouldnt be like plains or deserts for as far as you could see, but just more flat area so you arent constantly running up or down mountains. also i dont mean completely flat, like ther would be sections that are one block up or two or three. so still somewhat flat.

there was a server that was completely flat with a river or two, and it was kind of lame because you couldnt advance very easily.

i guess what im trying to say is that the ground would be good if it wasnt always on a steep slope. i would like to see more variance in the amount of steep mountains, somewhat flat land, and middle ground like small hills.

I agree with LordAardvark about the trees, but I think that the plains would be surrounded my rivers and small hills and the mountains would be very far away, barely able to see them through the fog on the plains. It would be fair that way.

Trees would be a cool idea, If you could get them to work that is.They could provide some interesting sniper cover.

Everything except the tree part I find acceptable. Sniping is already easy enough to do, giving cover that's not blatantly obvious (poorly camoflaged bunkers) would just make them even more annoying. Problem with flat areas is that they make for a pretty crappy battlefield. It would just come down to who throws up a bunker first, or who has a better sniping position on the nearest mountain.

Anybody know what the plans are as far as terrain?

I really like this game and i think it has great potential. Yet, the first thing i realized is that the maps are extremely mountainous! It just takes a while climbing up or across a mountain. My hopes are that it resembles minecraft in that there are still mountains but also with relatively flat ground, beaches, larger lakes, and importantly: foliage. I think trees are a must. Less mountains and more flat ground would result in less, much less, tunneling and more building, as well as it would improve time to get from point a to b (less jumping up a mountain and more running on flat-ish ground). Flatter ground would probably make people build more or trench more as they would be more exposed, also because they dont have mountains to tunnel through. Trees would be cool; give natural cover and possibly allow players to climb up and snipe from.

Simply, with more dynamic terrain you would have more natural cover, and more options that require players to build, trench, or tunnel. I hope we see the terrain evolve as this game progresses, and i cant wait!

What do you guys think should be done?
