1. Ducking is a hell of a lot more effective at saving your ass than strafing.
2. Building a bunker? Make the cover 2 blocks high. Can't see that derpy lake down there? Build your bunker lower instead of sacrificing invaluable cover (esp now since in beta 36 Rifleshots can't destroy blocks anymore)
3. Do you see your team doing autistic things (building statues to gods you don't want to know, building the biggest ass retard fortress ever at a place where it doesn't make sense, fucking up bunker building etc etc)? Tell them to actually care about the game's content and frankly remind them that "If you want a block based building simulator you should try out Minecraft, not this"
4. Aiming really isn't hard once you get the hold of it. I find both shooting from the hip and using iron sights pleasantly fine.

This is a first draft. I focused on basic conceptual and technical information - what to think about in making a map, what AoS expects from maps, etc. It still needs details on "how to use Slab6" and "how to use the bitmap converter." It could also use more step-by-step on the features of Voxed, pictures, etc.

I also have an older tutorial from weeks and weeks ago sitting on these forums somewhere, which I should probably find and pull into this guide. If you've written a guide, I humbly ask for your text/image/video to come onto the wiki so that we can make an "ultimate mapping guide."

Similar tutorial for setting up a server for Ace Of Spades as this one http://ace-spades.com/forums/topic.php?id=115 but using CentOS instead of Debian.

This tutorial will help you set up your own server using linux, and also help out the community by increasing the amount of servers that ACTUALLY work!

Step 1: Create a new user (working in root is scary for n00blings)

syntax: adduser AceOfSpades

Step 2: Download Ace Of Spades on to your computer.

Step 3: Transfer those files on to your Linux server. I use a program called WinSCP which allows you to easily copy & paste files between your computer and your server.

Step 4: At this point you will need to install a windows emulator on your machine as Linux cannot execute binary files natively. I use an add-on called Wine to do so.

In order to install Wine on CentOS, you will need to first install an add-on called RPMForge. Head over to this link: http://24x7servermanagement.com/blog/?p=524
and follow those simple steps to get Wine up and running on your machine.

Great! Now you have a windows emulator within CentOS and are ready to launch your Ace of Spades server.

Step 5: A useful program to have to do be able to have a sturdy server is an add-on called "screen".

syntax: yum install screen

Step 6: Now it's time to launch your server! Hoorah!

syntax:

screen
wine server.exe

(Type in number of players)
(Type in server name)

now if you want to get away from the server but still have it running, just hit Crtl + A + D. To return to the server window just type "screen -r" (without the quotes).

Step 7: ?????

Step 8: PROFIT!!!!!!
