After making the long arms on the cross I posted here, I realized that crouching and looking down slows you down enough to prevent falls, so now I'm doubting that a feature to prevent you from falling is even really needed. I had to place 30 blocks outwards like that, and I didn't fall off once. I did come pretty close at one point, admittedly.

it shouldn't be for shift either. I like me a bit of sneaking up and down stairs and around places without having to crouch.

At first I kind of liked the idea of a "don't fall" key, but I think now it's a lot more fun for the combat. It makes bridges a bit harder to build, so the bridges have become more valuable (much like bridges in real wars). Beret also raises a good point; adding that feature could get you a lead overdose.

@Nowa90: I have no idea who makes the two-high tunnels, but I wish they'd stop. I agree, it's kind of silly.

if it was for the walk button it'd be great. Not crouch, that'd suck for sneaking, and I have a feeling the code would make it then impossible to walk in a 2 high tunnel (and who the hell makes them, its quicker with the spade and you can walk....)

No. No no no no no- Crouching and sniping from cover go hand in hand, and in a gimped up landscape with odd blocks and holes everywhere, preventing movement up or down while crouching would be the death of many a player, simply because they'll go to sidestep behind cover or backpedal into a pit to avoid fire.... and then discover they can't move, and get their skull blown off.

It works in minecraft, it worked fantastically in UT2004, but it would not work in AoS.

Although I like the whole sneaking-crouch that prevents you from falling off, it's true that soldiers do not have harnesses..
That said, it could make rebuilding sections of bridge to be much quicker (no specific map mentioned).. that kind-of use might be nice actually.
Though it would encourage much more in the way of 'fairy-builders' since the idea is taken from Minecraft.
If it were to happen, I'd suggest it was attached to the shift ('walk') key instead of crouch, but I'm not sure how good it'd generally be for all players.

When you crouch you should be able to go to the edge of a block and stop like in minecraft. Like in bridge war maps where im trying to patch up one of the underside bridges and then i fall cause i went a tiny bit to far.

And dont tell me to go back to minecraft.
