There's no point to adding that particular form of stat, because the people that have the most comments are more likely to be people that stir up crap needlessly than they are to be useful contributors.

Honestly, anyone that uses these forums with any seriousness at all should have at least a vague feel for who's useful and who's useless.

I don't like the idea. I know nearly every forum has some form of post count, but in too many cases, people tend to equate post count with seniority.

This can have the effect of ignoring new players because people think their opinions don't matter, disregarding the fact that, if someone has a very high post count, most of that is probably shitposting.

People who take time to write out a measured reply to a topic and won't post unless they deem it necessary (like me, if you'll allow me to be vain for a moment) generally don't have a high post count and can be left feeling ignored or left out.

All a post count does is massage peoples' e-peen. This way, people are on level footing. Everyone who frequents the forum enough knows who the regular posters are anyway.
