Why not stick with the whole block-world thing and have a special block for medics to place? Then when people get near it, they get healed up. It could have either a time limit or a resource limit, or both. It could last, say, 1 minute, healing up to a maximum of 500 health points total.

You could use the same idea for a support class to resupply people's ammo, too. Using both of these together, forward bases could be set up, helping when you assault the enemy base.

In real wars, they shoot medics anyway. Heard of the WW1/2 that nobody cares about the Geneva convention thing?

If Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault is any indication, medics should have sidearms at least so they won't be totally defenseless.

Also, ain't shooting medics a violation of the Geneva Convention? :/

I can agree, I was hoping that Ben Aksoy would be able to create a sidearm for a medic to use.

Yeah, but without the digging tools and blocks, he probably have less efficiency on the front lines because he can't build his own defenses because he will get easily shot down by other enemies, even with an increased walkspeed.

That's way too complicated, and ace of spades appeal comes largely from it's simplicity and it's stylization. It's a grungy war where mobility is important. I think considering those factors, the best option would be a medic class with a med pack that gives health, slightyly increased speed and no weapons or digging tools.

This is a pretty good idea, I've always loved being a medic in games like Battlefield: Bad Company. And no matter how many people hate the idea of classes, this sounds like it could work (with a bit of tweaking).

What I'm thinking about the medic classes is that medics have the ability to create makeshift tents, which heal up to only a max of 75 health and disappear either after three minutes, used 15 times or has been shot up by enemy weaponry. A medic has a faster movement speed than other classes. Each player who uses the tent can only use it 5 times in order to prevent "tent sapping". Each medic can create up to 3 tents per life before returning to their base tent to get some more supplies to replenish their medical supplies. Medics can create up to two tents before they can place another. They are limited to a pickaxe, a shovel, blocks and their tents.
