  • Anti-Griefing system doesn't work.
  •

So I finished a nice tower with a strong enough foundation that it would take a griefer a little longer to destroy. But sure enough, some shithead comes up and shovels out my foundation. "Hey! What a great opportunity to use the new anti-griefing measure!" I jump down there and shoot him in the head. About 10 times. WHILE he is shoveling. Along with someone else shooting him also. He never dies. So my entire structure is destroyed and there's not shit I can do about it, and the new update doesn't even work.

Yeah, unfortunately it only works when they're using the pickaxe, for now. I hope this gets fixed~

I think I was there, we had probably five people shooting him, but after that I had no problems with it. It might only be programmed for the pickaxe though.

I agree, the anti-grief system should work for shoveling. Also, I've just had a case in my server, where a deuce spammed grenades (stood inside the tent), to destroy our bridge. Too bad I couldn't teamkill him. I didn't get to kick him till after he destroyed the bridge as there was someone afk in the tent.

I would also check to see if suicide or teamchanges makes a difference. I was just playing with a drive-by griefer who repeatedly shoveled out the intel tower without getting hurt.

Would be nice if it worked for grenade spamming from the tent too. Was just on server with 2 people in the tent spamming in all directions

another problem is griefers who box in the tent so the flag carrier has to dig to get in, only to get team killed by the griefer who steals the flag and caps it himself.

witnessed this happen a few times already.

Ok just tested it, you can teamkill when they are using pick, but not at all with shovel.
    I hope this gets fixed.

izzy: that's the kind of case I was shooting for in the last anti-grief thread when I pitched for removing block damage abilities when hit by FF, instead of getting TKed. If you're the flag carrier and your weapons just got removed after trying to dig, it's no biggie, you ask your friends to help.

izzy: that's not a big problem. I mean, very few people cares about who actually captured the intel.

Personally I think we need a better anti griefer system that just shotting the guy in the head when he has a pickaxe!

Anyone here who has played Garrys Mod knows about prop protection. Why can't the same concept be applied here (except it would be block protection)? Just simply make every block that YOU place indestructible to other teammates. This would present the problem of griefers plugging up your windows and doors and shit. But what's the worst that happens? You get the guy kicked, then unplug your windows and doors. It's like a minor inconvenience at most when compared to your awesome fort being reduced to absolutely nothing.

As for an improved anti-grief/anti-hack vote-kick system, there should be a command like "/votekick 23 Griefed intel spider tower." This would put a message in on the left side of the screen saying "Sample246 initiated a vote to kick [whoever]. Reason: Griefed intel spider tower.
    y/n".

Everyone could hit three keys and be done with it and back to playing.

Another thing you can do is to allow admins to teleport to whoever they want. This way, they can be caught red-handed and get banned.

    That's my 2 cents.

And how are you going to stop me from building around our cp or blocking off parts off your fort when no one's looking

Nothing you place should be indestructable in my opinion. Voxed should have the ability to place indestructable blocks, but not ingame as this could lead to absurdities as Lokiamis has pointed out.

Agreed that other team mate's stuff should be destroyable.

One thing I quite like about aos is that I can leave a server and come back a day later and sometimes its still the same map. You spot the ruins of yesterday's fort or yesterday's megabridge etc.

Rebuild & repair would become problematic if you cant remove old blocks

I agree. The anti-griefing measures seem to be kind of worthless at this point.

The anti-griefing also needs to work on people who are shooting out blocks.

"But what's the worst that happens? You get the guy kicked, then unplug your windows and doors."

No, the worst that happens is you can't get the guy votekicked -- we got team-killing griefers BECAUSE votekicking doesn't work well enough.
