  • REQUEST FOR NEXT UPDATE. IP and start up commands.
  •

I need IP settings and start-up commands for map, slots and name of the server.

Please bring it out on 0.50 Ben if you don't mind.

    Thanks

    Jack,

You mean running the server through a proxy?
Setting the capture limit in the command line instead of the config file?
    Slots is player count.
Name of the server is already there as well.

Unless you want to configure all of this using runtime argument. Example: "server.exe -name MyServerName -players 32 -port 32886 -map mymap"

I think we just need a load of configuration options, including for the FPS cap / possibly vsync / windowed mode, binding keys, commandrates for servers, port configuration etc and call it 0.5. You know, options that are standard in games.

"You mean running the server through a proxy?"

No. Set the IPs so It just does not use the default IP of the machine.

"Setting the capture limit in the command line instead of the config file?"
Did not say anything about the cap limit.

    "Slots is player count."
    Well done.

"Name of the server is already there as well."
But you have to type it in the console.

"Unless you want to configure all of this using runtime argument. Example: "server.exe -name MyServerName -players 32 -port 32886 -map mymap""

    As I said, "start-up commands"

They are called "command line arguments" not "start-up commands". No wonder he was confused.
Also, your shit about setting the IP is retarded, let us all ignore that part, unless you want to clarify.

In the game server industry we call them Start Up lines as they are lines of code that start a game.

They are also known as Pre-start commands. That is If you have to set something before the server starts.

Also the IP bit is the most important for us as we don't want one AOS server per server. That is why we want pre start commands to define the IP that the server.exe will use.

Fuck off, Jackster, stop being unclear.
Configuring the port is what you want, not the IP.
They aren't called "start up lines", either, here's what Google thinks of your "start up lines"
    http://www.google.ca/search?q=start+up+lines&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#sclient=psy&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=uEF&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&biw=869&bih=516&source=hp&q=%22start+up+lines%22&aq=f&aqi=g-c1g1g-b3&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=2a7acf49160c9015
There's also exactly 5 pages on google when searching "start up lines" +game
6 pages soon enough, thanks to you.

You said "we want pre start commands to define the IP that the server.exe will use. "
You're calling them "pre start commands" now? Does the "game server industry" call them that too?
A website says that IP is..
"An identifier for a computer or device on a TCP/IP network. Networks using the TCP/IP protocol route messages based on the IP address of the destination. The format of an IP address is a 32-bit numeric address written as four numbers separated by periods. Each number can be zero to 255. For example, 1.160.10.240 could be an IP address. "

Do you have multiple ethernet cables going to your PC? Didn't think so.
You can host multiple servers on the same computer if they were on different ports, IP is not a concern.

Did Google also teach you how to be a dumbass?

You can set multiple IP's to a computer.

Nobody said you couldn't have multiple IPs assigned to a computer, I didn't even imply it, it's simply _not_a_concern_, is it?
Are you trying to host multiple servers on multiple _external_ IPs? You can already do this.

I know you can run servers on other IPs but it is no good for Game Server Hosting Panels.

It is just best to have ip settings in the start up line.

    excuse me?

Just now noticing you're hosting or taking part in "warservers", an anonymous source had me going that you were incompetent.
    Try this http://www.r1ch.net/stuff/forcebindip/

Read the rest of what I said.

We have tried to use ForcebindIP but It does not work for our OS.

Then maybe you should virtualize Windows instead of using Wine? Don't know how much CPU the server takes, but I see it as a possibility if it's not a big performance hit.

" instead of using Wine" Where you get that from?

Virtual servers would not be cost effective and won't work for the game panel.

How else are you running a Windows application on a non-windows OS
You're implying this by saying "It does not work for our OS." Likely, if you're using Windows it's because it's not compatible with AoS itself.
Good luck with that anyway, edit your main post and describe your situation for Ben.

I did not say we are not using Windows.

For some reason ForceBindIP does not work on Windows Server.

Jackster is trying to provide a service so even more servers can be up and running. I think command line arguments are good idea too. It would be easier for someone to develop a server gui tool.

My only question to him is, what kind of affiliate program are you going to create? gameservers.com pays $24 per new customer
