  • Suggestion for a new weapon type
  •

As of right now, all we have are a rifle and grenades. These are great by themselves, but I would like to suggest something that would add a bit more depth to the strategy of the game.

I am suggesting a heavy machine gun. It CANNOT be fired if you are standing. In order to use it, you must:

1.) Select it upon spawning. You would be able to choose the rifle or the heavy machine gun as your weapon.

2.) Find a place you would like to shoot from.

3.) Right click with the heavy machine gun selected.

Upon right clicking with the gun selected, you would go through a 3 second process in which you would automatically crouch, and the screen would zoom slightly, with a gun sight similar to the rifles sight. You are unable to move, but can rotate freely.

The heavy machine gun has a very high rate of fire, about 4 times that of the rifle. However, it is very inaccurate. After the bullet has flown about 5 blocks, it would already be 1 block off of where you aimed.

The heavy machine gun has a clip size of 50 bullets, and has 300 extra bullets to reload with. it takes a much longer amount of time to reload, so while you are reloading you are a sitting duck.

In order to move again, you must right click again, which does a 3 second process where you stand back up and the camera goes back to normal zoom.

Please give me your feedback, and let me know what you think!

Spinning up takes too long, spinning down takes too long, you're forced into one place, unable to move; deciding to move would screw you over, since you'd be spinning down three seconds unable to fire or move out of place -- this weapon would also be extremely inaccurate and only effective (under the ideal circumstances, e.g playing with morons) in extreme close range combat.

Mid range combat? You might be effective if you can aim like a true god, but a simple dodge/flank will devastate you - that's if you haven't already run off while reloading for an extremely long time, in which case the opponent won't even need to hide, they'll simply need to pull the trigger.

If you don't get why it's so terrible, I'll spell it out: You're an easy headshot for riflemen.

i really see noone using this even if it was implemented because you stand still while firing, making you rifle bait.

It is meant to be used from a defensive position, and usually with 2-3 people using it from the same general area. Sitting in one place with this would be a defensive or suppressive tactic.

Also, at the argument of being a sitting duck rifle bait: You are rifle bait anyway if you are in a fort, where this is meant to be used.

I also think it is too inaccurate. I am going to make it more accurate. How about 1 block off of your aim after 10 blocks, instead of 5?

Remember: This thing fires very quickly. Inaccuracy is counteracted by amount of bullets.

EDIT: Dang it I can't edit the OP.

Okay, instead of being 1 block off of your aim after 5 blocks, it is 1 block off after 15 blocks. I just measured out 15 blocks, and think that it would be the best.

It's an ineffective weapon, underpowered, even. If it's only truly viable in *a defensive position with four people spamming it in a fort*, you'd be getting a head full of lead in any other situation.

Being in a fort by no means makes you rifle bait - properly constructed forts can allow you serious control over what your opponents see of you, since you can ideally pop out of many different locations to greet them. This weapon makes it impossible for you to escape or even hide from an attack like a rifleman could.

You'd be crouched, no? If this still holds true, you would have no defensive cover of any sort - firing the gun crouched means there's no bricks in front of you; you still need to see ahead to shoot, and the gun chews through bricks, right?

The accuracy needs to be better, though I fail to approximate what would be ideal. Damage is the cornerstone of why your machine gun is ineffective - you never specified, but machine guns tend to have low bullet damage per shot in exchange for big clips.

Thinking about this further, it's a pain in the ass to explain just how to balance this gun. Scrap the idea. As I said before, the gun's capabilities are too flawed for it to work.

Defensive stationary guns will be added eventually IIRC, and ones that would do what you're thinking of a million times better.
