This is not a big deal. Instead of ':' I suggest there to be any other mark like '[#]' or '<#>' because smileys look bad when they're used. Goes in one minute, but makes looks already one step nicer.

Or not to have any special mark at all.

Just because you can't post a single smiley in chat, and have it look good, doesn't mean the chat should change. I'm perfectly content with it as it is.

I suggest pressing '+' show chat history. It's annoying to miss things people say.

If anything, just show chat history, then you open the chat area.

This idea is branched from another game, that uses [] to encapsulate the names of the players.
Even though it is a small idea, I think it is a bit clearer in chat.
Sometimes when somebody asks something, I try referring to their nickname in chat, but it looks like this:
[wiki]tGM~:deuce12: the answer.. (etc)

But having [] around the name would improve this.

I support []. Also there need to be space after it.
It is hard to read. I spend 3 fucking seconds to find out where user name ends and sentence begins.
Also, there should be separated alerts about kills and intel captures. In chat it's hard to see them.
And another important thing. Chat history must be shown when you type.

That's the game me and Monsteri came here from (epic game).
That game uses [] and the other messages are generally very informative too.

The chat history, again, would be nice. So when you enter chat of any sort it displays the chat history above. I would suggest that AoS does a similar thing.
This addition would probably also need a change in the workings of how chat opens and closes, so you don't have to press 'enter' on an empty message just to get the chat box away, you can simply remove all the contents of the message, +1 and it will return back to normal.
e.g. I press 't', I get the chat open. I type 'fish'. I then don't want to send fish because something is happening, so I hold backspace, which deletes the contents to '' and then, because there is no content in the message body, another backspace would close the chat.

There should be an option in config.ini so the server owner can set the fucking chat name thingy how they like.

The server owner can use whatever characters they want, and the special string "%n" indicates that the player's name is to be written there, and "%s" indicates that the message is to be written in its place.

EXAMPLE:
[<%n>]:%s would give, for example, [<superprick1>]:I'm a prick

And:
%s <-- %n
would give
What a prick I am! <-- superprick1
