  • First impressions from a new player

    Hi, i have been playing for the first time to this game this weekend. While the game holds a lot of promise (enought to make me register in this forum to write!), it still clearly an alpha ;)

    What i think the author have to add:

    -Time limit. Most games meander too much. I like to start and end a game in a game session. Not saying the games have to be short, but at least they do have to end.
    -Autobalance. Not fun to play in a server where the opposite team have 4 more guys.
    -Better identification of base/intel in map. Nuff said, it's horrible for the noobs. Maybe also an arrow in the minimap pointing to the enemy intel?. That included when a mate is transporting captured intel.
    -Support for widescreen resolutions. Again, basic.

    This is basically the "obligatory" stuff the game needs.
    Now for the wishlist, for the long term future development:

    -Weapons. While i don't think the game have to be a CoD with dozens of weapons, i think the game would benefit of having 4-5 different weapons. Think Frozen Synapse, mg, sniper, shotgun or smg, grenade launcher. No more. Obviously there should be carefully balanced.
    -The theme of the game is already kind of WWI. Maybe some kind of artillery or mortar?
    -Some kind of system to improve the pace and not having to "start again" every time you die. Medic ability to revive or heal allies? Or maybe spawning in allies in some circumstances?
    -Attack vs defense mode, instead of CTF.

    -If a game is too long change the servers
    -It's actually really fun to play 2 vs 15
    -I think in the next 2 updates there will be new guns
    -In WWI there were no mortars
    -It's supposed to be a Vietnam theme
    -Mr Aksoy will add new modes and elements

    Time limit: Currently there is a cap limiter, but a time limiter may be of use too. I think something like this would be of more use when proper map cycles have been introduced.
    Autobalance: I would personally be for this, however I know many people care strongly about which team they go on.. I think a toggable option yes.
    Intel identification: Agreed we should be able to see the FIC (friendly intel carrier), but not the EIC (enemy intel carrier) or if we did make that visible, make the EIC's map icon fade after ~20 seconds after capture.
    Widescreen: More resolution support is fair.

    Weapons: I suggest a few weapon additions/changes, definitely agreed that there needs to be some variance, and carefully balanced and counteracting weapons.
    Artillary: not so sure.. I think it could get fairly annoying having some static artillary, since alot of people currently just camp and snipe. But I think it could be achievable, but difficult to get fair and fun.
    Pace: It's currently impossible to tell if an ally is wounded or not, and you can always heal at your CP.
    Attack vs defense: As in infiltration game-mode? I would like to see that as an extra gamemode to the current 'ctf', however I think the current gamemode could be improved and made into a more classic ctf with intel as a nice bonus.

    We should be cautious of wishing for new weapons, because if they are not balanced upon release/within a few days of release, and one gun is overpowered, it could deter new players. At the moment, everyone is in the same ship. I would like to see new weapons, I just think that balance is key in this game.

    Also, I would like to see widescreen support. I myself play on a widescreen monitor, so this would be handy for me.

    I don't like the idea of a giant arrow on the map pointing out the enemy intel, but there could be a key added to the side, like;

    □ = Intel
    + = Base
    O = Teammate

    Also, showing a friendly intel carrier could lead to people switching teams upon having their intel captured and going "INTEL CARRIER IN F4!". I like it how it is at the moment.

    -It's actually really fun to play 2 vs 15

    If you're the 2, you die all the time. If you're the 15, you get bored of the lack of challenge. Where is the fun in that?

    I second the idea that team balance is needed.

    A key on the map, perhaps.
    I would prefer having a menu GUI with a controls/userguide section for those types of things rather than clogging up the screen.

    As for the 2vs15. If you're the 15 and you get bored of no challenge, switch to the 2!
    If you're in the 2, then you are generally playing against people who don't really care. If the opposition wanted a good game, they would level the teams. So generally it's quite fun being on that kind of server where you get more action (until the player limit is increased significantly that is)..

    I agree about the weapons - they need seriously fine tuning to make them both fair and variant enough.

    my first impressions NEVER BUILD A FORT WHEN IN THE SAME SERVER AS Hailber he griefs it no matter what I wish there was a way to detect how some one plays and if they are a griefer to block them access to servers and my experience from trying to get the lay of the land need to eliminate the mirroring of the opposite side of the map when you're at the border
