You choose the gun right after you choose the team, based on the footage I've seen. I haven't figured out whether or not you have to leave and rejoin a server to change between it, or if you get the option upon respawn. I think the most likely case is that you press a key to change, just like with team-switching. |

Guys, you switch gun with (.) Pause at 0:12 in the submachine gun preview video and look right next to (CHANGE TEAM: COMMA). |

The SMGs occur to me as better weapons for clearing bunkers from within, snaking through labyrinthine tunnel systems, and clearing out other close environments. Still, I think I'll stay more loyal to the rifle. It's served me pretty well, and its ability to kill instantly is useful even when you surprise somebody at close range. Sooner or later I'll probably even kill an SMG user pointe-blank with a shot to the face. I shall then publish my findings as a warning against spray-'n'-pray tactics. |

It's already been proven in Stack's videos that the rifle actually seems to be more useful at close range than the SMG. The SMG seems to be more of a teamwork-oriented weapon, providing cover fire for advancing team members and such. |

Now that there are two guns I can change the skins to have the sniper class from TF2. Or the scout, heavy, medic, basicly all of them. |

I already made a small armory of weapons ( http://ace-spades.com/forums/topic.php?id=2561 ) including rifles, assault rifles, machine guns, and pistols. I'm thinking my machine guns will all get their chance to go out for a spin as the SMG. The only question is which one I want to use first... |

is it just me, or does the MP5 not break blocks when in ironsight mode? the first video has the guy shooting at a one-block-thin tower, and the blocks dont seem to change color at all. |

I presume that's because he was shooting past the "invisible wall" and into the opposite side of the map. @Galaxy: I can see the SMG actually working really well as a teamwork device. A tag-team of two gunners could proceed through the twisty corridors on Bridge Wars and Antic Bridge leapfrogging corner-to-corner (if the leader gets shot, the trailer waits for his killer to come around the corner and into a withering hail of hot lead delivered upon sight). A group of two marksmen and a gunner could clear out forts in no time and then totally level them. |

I would use the MG to hold down a sniper while others move up. That or move up while a sniper covers me. |

That could be some interesting potential. I'm hoping that the SMG's lack of power as a stand-alone weapon will both encourage more teamwork and also mean that on average most of the players on a server will still be using the rifle. Most military units IRL only have a few machineguns per company, so I'm hoping that the game will stick to the realism in that respect. After all, aside from the graphics and the fact that a single infantryman can topple an entire skyscraper or tunnel straight through a whole mountain, AoS is actually an amazingly realisic game. The rifle mechanics make many other, non-free, non-independently developed games look quite silly, actually. |
