Alright, so if you check the weapon polls right now the sniper rifle is winning by a landslide of 60+ votes. Many have suspected an anonymous user is utilizing proxy servers to make unfair votes, and there is strong evidence via IP addresses to back this claim up. But,if the poll has been tampered, then how do we know what everyone really wants? Most would agree a better option is to just increase the accuracy of the default rifle; if not to it's former state than at least a buff. So, what I want to know is the AoS' communities real thoughts; do we REALLY need another sniper rifle, as the (supposedly) tampered polls suggest, or does the default rifle merely need a buff?

We wouldn't need a sniper rifle at all if Mr. Aksoy got rid of the semi's cone of fire and returned it to being pinpoint accurate like it was prior to .53.

Poll's rigged, and if we get a sniper, the semi needs a buff to damage, because there is no point having both a sniper AND the semi.

Bring semi's accuracy back to it's original for long-range combat, modify the SMG into an assault rifle (less recoil) for mid-range, and add a shotgun for close range combat.

Well, just about everyone (minus the kids who probably sucked at sniping anyway) wants the rifle's old accuracy back. I wonder if Ben will listen?

I would like to agree with TheGreatKhan, his idea seems pretty good.

I want pickaxe to have melee damage so i dont have to waste bullets when i sneak up on someone and give my self away with the loud ass noise the rifle/smg makes.

The pathetic thing here is that people said they wanted a sniper rifle back in 0.52 and earlier, to which I'd usually respond: "So what have you been doing with the standard rifle, then?"

They've been sticking their thumbs up their butts, 1337101. It's the only explanation I can understand. Put a different semi.png in the png folder and BAM you've got a sniper rifle. I don't see what's so hard about that. If the zoom was any better, you may as well just hand people points for no effort at all, really.

@Kaede: In the sense of visual mods, the rifles are a lot like the WWI and WWII infantry rifles. They were so overpowered that people turned them into snipers simply by putting a scope on them, and that's essentially what anyone who's ever made a custom scope for AoS is doing. I actually really like that detail, it adds a feature to the game in a creative way by requiring "off the battlefield" work on the weapons.

I haven't used the default rifle sights since they changed from the original, the tip is too large to aim well. I don't have a definite favorite for custom scopes, although I'm pretty fond of German designs. The German reticule scopes are pretty intuitive and ergonomic for me.

Best solution right there. Eliminate the need for three of the suggested weapons while only having to do the work on one. TheGreatKhan's got the right idea.

And the sooner we get a shotgun put in, the sooner everyone will realise just how useless it is. Then we can get it right out of the game's system.

I want a shotgun that shoots a bean bag and stuns the player but doesn't kill him. Not sure how much of this would work though, I just think it would be cool.

oh yeah I did vote for the sniper rifle, but the shotgun would be a good, have you ever played bridgewars and gone underground and lit people up with the smg, NO! the shotgun can solve that problem

Shotgun would be pretty useless considering it's limited uses. SMG out ranges it, Battle Rifle out ranges and out damages it. Unless you are in a tunnel, in which a grenade would work, is the only logical solution where a quick burst or headshot would be harder.

I don't want a sniper I hate the idea of a sniper being in this game because gay things like quick scopes.But I was the one that rigged the vote cause I wanted to see how much you guys would Rage and whine and I'm satisfied Tbh I wanted a melee weapon or a handgun or a shotgun.
