Some tips for you as an assassin:

Use the numbers 2 and 5 to quickly switch between the pickaxe and the cloak.

You can swing the pickaxe to disable your cloak. It's faster than switching back to the grenade.

Edit: Also when you're a medic the kill counter doesn't reset when you die. However, you have to get the kills while in medic mode for them to count towards building structures. When you build a structure the cost is indeed subtracted from the kill counter.

^ I thought it was swinging the shovel... The pickaxe swinging disables cloak in servers that made it like that.
