    Hi guys, I've been thinking it would be awesome to have a realism server up. Not realism in like the changing of the core mechanics of the game, but the way the game would be played. The focus of this would be on a simulation of WWI and trench warfare.

    How it would work:

    There would be two teams of 8, one attacking and one defending, the goal of the attacking team would be to get 2 captures, once this was accomplished the teams would swap roles.
    There would be a 10 minute period of no action for building on the part of the defenders, and planning on the part of the attackers. After this the admin would say go and the battle would commence.
    There would also need to be a ventrillo or teamspeak server to go to for coordination with in teams. All coordination between the two opposing teams would be done through text.

    We would need a group of about sixteen players bound by a code of honor not to break the rules. And as there is no easy way to password protect a server it would have to be first come first serve and kick all who don't comply until the server is full with people that want to play this way.

    Its just an idea and I'm trying to get a sense of whether or not there are a group of people willing to do this...

    Ok.

    Land is flat. Just like in World War 1. All players of both teams start off in one giant hole. They are encouraged to build trenches rather than bunkers and towers. The battlefield would quickly become a stalemate, and teams would have to go "over the top" all at once, just like in World War 1. Maybe just have it act like the normal game, but with more trench foot and lice.

    Trench foot would be awesome!

    The problem with having 15 vs 15 is it would be hard to manage, but maybe eventually.

    Also it would be nice if i could get an occasional bump!

    Just making people not build bright coloured stuff, pixel art, text, etc. Also, as for realism, no fake Intel icons.
    Map should also be flatter. Not perfectly flat, but also not forcing people to jump every one block.

    IMO, realism should focus mostly on building. People already fight quite realistically, but buildings...
    Bunkers, trenches, towers, camouflaging stuff, that would be cool.

    iI've been thinking a flat map, western europe is not very mountainous, does anyone have a vent server?

    people appear at their side, normally near intel when they respawn. thats why i hate servers with lot of people

    Make a map filled with 64 blocks high by 512 blocks wide 512 blocks deep. everyone would start out on a flat surface. But they couldn't build any higher because the map starts at the height limit. also when indestructible terrain is added make a layer that is like 4 or 5 blocks deep. that way they cant build up and they cant dig too deep

    well I'm not discouraging building up, because its up to the attackers to not let that happen. I am however not going to allow tunneling.
    Do you think voice communication is too much?

    How do you mean voice communication? And yes, no tunneling, make the blocks about 5 deep, that's all you should need.

    totally down for this, and you have my word i wouldn't break the rules.
    dont have a mic though... guess i need to buy one anyway..

    also would like a flatter map as other people do, and less tunneling, which i guess is just cos of mountains anyway.

    the urban warfare map is pretty much like this, only 3 block high above the water, lots of buildings, craters filled with mud, bunkers and roads.

    In WWI they did use tunnels......... It would be unrealistic not to include them.
    Even though I can tell you want people to rush over the top, not be building miles of underground tunnels.
