    This is a map set in the midst of a rocky desert. The map's centerpiece is a large canyon with a river. It is a mostly-symmetric map, with some liberties taken in the placement of buildings and vegetation.

    Changelog:

    Version 2

    Renamed map from "triplefox_desert" to "mesa."
    Adjusted color palette, it should look roughly like the American Southwest now.
    Adjusted a few bits of terrain
    Rotated the map 90 degrees(by accident, actually)
    Added buildings
    Added giant-sized cacti - I suspect these will dwarf the players.

    Looks nice, but since you made all these desert maps, why not make an area 51 map?

    JukelProNabb: The landscape is a slab6 model. First I filled a 256x256 area using the slice editor. Then I carved out the canyon and added some hills, caves, etc. Finally I imported into voxed and added the terrain details.

    In the future I am planning to speed terrain creation by working on a low-res model first(64 or 128) and then upsizing it to add the details.

    Noire: I might add area 51 elements to a version 3. I want to break from the desert settings and try a tundra one though.

    If it's already built, AFAIK it's hard to do more than hack away at it with the current voxed. The numeric marker and shift+<x> tools (e, w, etc.) are your best bet for eliminating a large area. You can also try home/end and delete for more precise changes. But it's also hard to paint in voxed so any changes may look ugly. For all these reasons I prefer to start fresh and reimport vxl prefabs each time.

    Nice map did host it a bit (Server is still up btw) one question though, is the water supposed to be under the entire terrain? got some complaints from people having difficulties getting out :)

    Creesch: I saw that. I screwed up with the water. V3 is here with a quick fix("quick" as in "I slaved away for an hour fighting voxed"). It's not pretty - there are a ton of overhangs still - but you won't be stuck anymore, at least. As a bonus, the file is also much smaller because of this fix!

    Version 4 is here.

    Changelog:

    Terrain is flush with the water again.
    Rearranged buildings and cacti.
    Roads.
    A runway in the center of the map.
    UFOs have landed near the runway. I tried a saucer crash first, but decided on something different that was easier to make in slab6...

    Running it on a server now and it seems to work out pretty wel, the new position of building is better as well since this prevents spawn sniping :)
