  • Significant FPS decrease in v0.47

I have framerate problems too, I haven't tested but it feels even lower than 25. It always ran perfectly before this version. What's more, things like digging, placing blocks and taking damage seems to lag behind, and the movement of other players is wierd, "inconsistent" is the only way i can describe it. I've never seen any of this before and it happens even when I play on servers with a ping of 20!

The new "motion blur" also looks like ass, by the way

Yeah, since everyone has a framerate cap at 25, and it looks like bandwidth consumption has drastically reduced, people are going to look more jittery.
Motion blur indeed looks like ass, but I'm more concerned about my FPS.

Looks like everyone has their FPS @ 25. I'm just hoping this wasn't on purpose.

What about people that say they haven't experienced The Drop (of fps).

They haven't checked their FPS and posted it, I wouldn't expect newbies to notice 25fps from 60fps.

I still have no idea how people can't tell the difference between 30 and 60fps, and 25 is even more noticeable!

Seriously, I've been looking at all manner of TV and computer screens my whole life to notice the details, and am shocked that people don't think it makes a difference.

EDIT: thx naka, forgot to add "dont" to my post

the whole thing is worded oddly I suppose, just so frustrated, but it'll be fine if its getting fixed in the next update!

Are you contradicting yourself or is that just a badly made post

I accidentally left the frame limiter at 25 FPS when I was testing some stuff. But relax, it should be fixed for the next release.

I would appreciate it if the blur effect was reduced in the update, or best case scenario have it configurable. Client.exe has never crashed for me.

    > Reduction of 'blur effect'
I second that.. The 'bubble' effect was not a big deal, but now, when turning the camera, everything becomes a cubist painting.

I'd like to throw this out there.

Film (like cinema film, like the ones you go and pay 15 bucks to watch) is filmed at 24 fps. Dvds, tvs, HD tv, everything is at 29.97 or 30 fps.

What nobody EVER gets is that it's not about frame rate itself, it's about frame rate drops. You could be humming along at 60 fps, and drop to 40 and you'd register, in your mind, a stutter. But play at 25-30 fps at least and steadily and you should never have a problem.

Btw: How bad are you computers to not play this game? I have a 11 year old gateway computer that has no trouble playing this fluidly. Honestly, time for an upgrade folks!

Dear developer: Add an option to crank the settings, they don't go high enough!

    @spartan094
I have no framerate drops in this game and the cap is still very noticeable and annoying. 25 is definitely not enough.

@spartan094 Films are at 24 fps but they seem more fluent than 25fps games because of the transition between frames. If you were to pause a film in an action scene you would see how blurred it is. And I agree partially with you.
But playing at 25 fps has its problems if not blurred as in the films.

We all have great computers. This game can run on your grandmas rig. We all are running it on no less than 25fps. Time for an upgrade folks? Better computer != better gameplay in AoS.

    i must say this:
    Developer accidently the frame limiter

people that dont notice the difference between 25 fps and 60 fps is because they are the ones that arent having problems

Yup, Definite cap of 25 FPS. Strange, My grandad's quad core, 2gb DDR2 RAM (But with worse GFX) Runs AoS Like shite, yet my Dual Core, 1gb Ram, 512mb GFX runs it on 25 FPS with no lag/delay even on turning? :/
