Guys, I see people suggesting C4 and vehicles and tons of guns. We should keep the game simple, so the great core aspect of the game can shine through. We only need three guns. -rifle That's all we need. We don't need classes, having everyone on the same playing field is good. Vehicles wouldn't work with the terrain. All I'm saying is don't bog the game down with tons of crap. Keep it simple. |

There are already lots of threads about this. Post in an existing one. |

No, just have the rifle. It's a good weapon. Sniper rifle's and shotguns would break the game. |
#1219 WilcoCharlie Member Posted 13 years ago |
They wouldn't if they would be very balanced. |

I'm not sure. I'm not a big fan of machine guns, maybe mounted ones would be nice, but that'd make green overpowered. Shotguns on the other side would be nice. With current rifle it takes lots of time and nerves to kill someone right in front of you, though it's fairly easy to snipe someone wandering through fog. EDIT: Sniper rifles are useless. You can snipe efficiently using current rifle. |

I wouldn't mind a shotgun or a pistol. Anything that's fully automatic, though, is questionable |

Need more players so we can mow enemies down with mounted MGs. |

I think it's good how rifles are quite difficult to use at close range, as it makes headshots that more valueable. If you are a good shot and have good reflexes, then yes, there isn't an issue, but if you haven't then you have to be more careful and think each confrontation out, and be aware of how you will escape if ambushed. Also having two poor shots leads to the amusing situation of them chasing each other mountains and down valleys |

Wow, I'm happy! I put in those other guns because I thought people wanted tons of guns, and I put those three as a compromise. I would much rather have just the rifle, and maybe a pistol. Also, I think that making the rifle head-shots not be a insta kill would be good. Maybe they would do something like 80-90 damage, but it's frustrating being spawn killed three times by one camper. I guess that says more about spawn positions but still. |

When the spawn covers half of the map and then some, it's hard NOT to "spawn camp" when attacking. I get tired of hearing "SPAWN KILLER" in the chat when you were just trying to get tot he enemy intel. Headshots should always be a fatal kill. No questions asked. |

imo keep how it is sort out servers and maybe another diff game mode and sort out the aimer on the rifle maybe make it helpful? |

Personally I love the WWI feel of the game and I think adding a sniper rifle, assault rifle, etc. would ruin it. However, I would like to see variety in weapons. Perhaps a semi-automatic carbine with lower accuracy to complement the rifle? Deployable, static machine guns would be neat but they'd have to be inaccurate, do almost no damage to blocks, and be mostly built for cover fire. I don't think they would overpower green if done correctly. |

Even a sniper is pushing it. I think instead of a scope, all players should start by default with binoculars. Shotguns can't headshot, but can still 1-hit in point blank e.g generic video game shotgun. What I would prefer to see would be a revolver sidearm; less damage than either gun, but faster firing. Also, bayonets would be awesome; simple little things like these would make the game both more fun/varies, but keep it out of any irritating grounds like sniping-wars, machine gun camping, vehicle spawnrape etc. |

I think Ben is going to decide what we need and don't need. |

+1 Deuce for binoculars. And that's obvious, Failure. We're just brainstorming ideas. |
#1288 Daddy Warbucks Member Posted 13 years ago |
I like the faster-firing rifle idea. What about burst-fire weapons? Would that be too weird? In ravenshield I used to love the M16 with 3 round burst. |
#1289 magicsofa Member Posted 13 years ago |
Definitely think the binoculars will keep the WW1 feel |
#1349 whoopassman Member Posted 13 years ago |
one thing that the game realy need, is pickaxes that can be used to brain teh enemy :P |
#1355 alexthecreeper The Creator Posted 13 years ago |
I have to agree with Alex there, if the Pickaxe and the Shovel could do damage, maybe a larger nade throw? Who knows, I wouldn't mind a better iron sights on the gun, It seems to get in the way of precise shot at distances. |
#1366 Roflzoids Member Posted 13 years ago |
I think even Iron Sights shouldn't be in it. But yeah, a shotgun would be useless. Combat almost always takes place at a distance of over 10 blocks away. I'd stick with the rifle every time. |
#1374 Beret Commando Posted 13 years ago |
It's not the fact we should remove Iron Sights, just the fact the little point in the middle blocks your whole view, If Ben simply changed it. And yeah, i have to agree with the Rifle, it is THE weapon, maybe a faster fire rate though, would help with close up and long distance |
#1376 Roflzoids Member Posted 13 years ago |
All i want to is to be allowed to edit the crosshair and iron sights, i don't see how it's considered cheating(i assume even when you look down the iron sights the direction the bullet travels is random so even if you got rid of the blurry crap and replaced it with an iron sight that has a better view, the accuracy wouldn't change. I might be wrong so don't take my word for it) For me i still can't hit jack with the iron sight without firing more than 3 rounds even it was directly on the guys head. Maybe i just suck. |
#1382 Noire Member Posted 13 years ago |
Does anyone really use the iron sights consistently? I really struggle to use them...I can't see anything |
#1390 whoopassman Member Posted 13 years ago |
When I use iron sights I actually aim slightly lower than my target area, then when I see an enemy I snap upwards to that position and shoot. After a 2 round burst I look down again to see if they are dead. If they are not, I will see if they have spotted me. If they have spotted me, I run. If not, repeat 2 round burst, and so on. |

How about adding damage to pick, and large melee attack to shevel? |
#1447 DeagleFlash Member Posted 13 years ago |
I DEFINITELY AGREE.....if a more complicated game is created then at least keep the original version (0.35) active for those who want to play. |
#1482 C-Wizzy Member Posted 13 years ago |
"When I use iron sights I actually aim slightly lower than my target area, then when I see an enemy I snap upwards to that position and shoot." -XenoXilus. I have to do that too, and it's freaking ridiculous. At the moment I shoot, why am I forced to look at the chat log to see if I got the kill, instead of the center of the screen like any other shooter? Ironsights in general are pretty annoying, but in AoS they're completely out of place, not least because they block your view of the ground in front, which you pretty much need in constant view if you want to be able to move around. Honestly if the Ironsights didn't zoom (and how does looking down the sights magnify the target anyway?) the way they do, then I'd never use them at all. |
