You will NEVER, EVER play a game more immersive than Thief 2: The Metal Age.
Best game in the entire world, bar none.

Bioshock for the sheer amount of fun, although once you get the power-ups, the only logical weapon to ever use is the wrench, and the game has no replayability.

Oblivion, but I don't feel like reinstalling it again. And it's unplayable without like 80 mods. (By which time, it is so fragile that installing just that one more mod breaks the entire install and you have to completely reinstall the game all over again)

Pokeyman, the most fun RPG ever made. Now with unlimited team choices and a basically unreachable goal! COOL!

Vectorman (2) and Kid Chameleon. Nothing like the later game to date. It's just so expansive.

Skyrim, Bioshock: Infinite, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Halo 4, Infamous 1 and 2, and the best on is Minecraft release for Xbox 360 Kinect!

Fallout, because I like its post-apocalyptic setting, its lore, and its generally open gameplay.

Battlefield, because of its necessity for teamwork to complete goals instead of running and gunning Rambo style (not to say I hate Run and Gun gameplay)

Half-Life, because of its story, puzzles, and the fact that if you ever get bored with it, there's always great mods.

I must say, you guys have a great taste in games.

If anyone would like to play Bad Company 2 with me, my PSN is ArcticWarfare39

Listing games as "your favorite games" that haven't even come out yet is like counting your chickens before they hatch. Not that I'm saying Skyrim and everything isn't gonna be awesome, but you can't really say it's your favorite game because you haven't even played it yet.

That said, 3/10 for making me reply in a serious manner, twice, to your post.

I always wanted to play Thief, but I couldn't make up my mind whether to start with 1 or 2, and then I heard they don't run on modern PCs anyway...

If we're talking multiplayer, my favourites have always been UT 99 & 2004, BF1942, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Timesplitters (Halo? Bah. BAH I say), Mashed, DKR, and I guess Left 4 Dead is alright.

These days my online time is split exclusively between AoS and Mount and Blade Warband.

Mount & Blade has the best combat system going. Every other game would be improved with it.

Thief 1 runs fine on my vista, although the controls are so horrible, I can't play it anymore, only Thief 2.

Thief: Deadly Shadows is always worth a play, it got 91% score on PCgamer. I didn't like it as much as Thief 2, but it's definitely still fun.

Also remember that Thief 1 and 2 come with an editing program, which takes quite a bit of learning to know how to use, as it's basically the tool the creators used to make the game itself. But once you learn how to DROMED, you can make your own thief missions.

One of my favourite games of all time is Shadow Of The Colossus. If you've never heard about it, look up a video and you'll understand why it's easily one of the best games ever created.

Also the original Metal Gear Solid, and Okami.

I'm going to fall in love with that game I just know it. I wonder if they'll get Koh Ohtani to do the soundtrack. He did an absolutely incredible job with the Shadow Of The Colossus OST.

A lot of the games already mentioned are in my favorites list, such as SotC and HL2.

One of my absolute favorite games ever is Spelunky; it is incredibly immersive, not just for a 2D platformer but for any game. The controls are perfect and as far as physics go, everything behaves exactly the way it should.

The last boss was so fucking hard. But after it was so satisfying to beat. I probably finished the game about 5 times, but haven't played it since forever because my sister has my ps2. I don't think I could choose a favourite boss from the game, but my least favourite was that thing that in that dark area that shoots fucking fire and does those huge annoying stomps.

One of my favourite parts of the game was beating it enough times and gaining enough strength to climb up the temple to the secret garden on top.

    I could never narrow down one favourite game, so here are some that I love;

Dwarf Fortress - It contains alcoholic midgets. What's not to love?

Transport Tycoon Deluxe - I first discovered this game when I was 7, so it has a strong nostalgic factor for me.

Rollercoaster Tycoon - Designing the perfect rollercoaster, go-kart track and hedge maze felt oh-so-rewarding. As well as drowning angry/skint kids.

Oblivion - I've sank many, many hours into this game. As Kaede-Chan said, though, I played it with mods and, after getting a new PC, I don't have the patience to download it, and download a shitload of mods, and fiddle on with Wrye Bash and OBSE to get them to work since I can't go back to vanilla. Skyrim does look awesome, though, and may well displace Oblivion when mods similar to OOO come to it.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising - Again, another major timesink for me. Got panned by players of the previous OpFlash games but this was my first taste of the series and I loved it. I did spend more time on the mission editing side once I switched from console to PC, though.

I don't have a definite favourite... I just play the games that people at my school are to meatheaded to play.
    E.g:
Me: Hey guys! check out this awesome game called ace of spades! it's like minecraft.
Friends: NO it's not COD, It's not assasins creed, it's not just cause, it's not minecraft etc.
    Me: but you'll like it.
Friends: no. because we don't play great games we just play shitty gay stuff.

maybe I exaggerated a bit but my point is they don't like thinking (or playing) outside the box.

My other friend also hates everything japanese, he was playing dead rising 2 and a japanese guys name was in the opening credits and he was like: "WHAT!? japanese! this game is gonna suck now!" .

    .dumbfuck.
