Well the smg is not bad but its no match for the rifle. Smg should be improved or the rifle should be nerfed. I think the smg should be improved. And ignore this post if there is actually a feature to improve accuracy by crouching.

The SMG is fine. You just shouldn't use it to snipe unless you know what you're doing.
Just give the rifle it's old accuracy back.

The rifle's accuracy is good enough, even though I used to kill more with the old one.

@PineApple: Full-autoing a SMG at a range any longer than a few feet? I am disappoint as well.

    @1337101: Cheers for being awesomesauce sharshooters! \ O v O /

If anything, a fully automatic, near perfectly accurate (at all ranges) weapon would suck the fun right out of blasting a hole into the next poor sap you see in your sights.

(Fired a M16A1 for my ROTC, one the most awesome days in my life. O v O d)

According to the OP, firing an MP5 for ten rounds full auto will result in uncontrollable recoil that will make it impossible to stay on target past point blank.

Let's see how accurate this is...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9RDxubJME0 (the SMG is an MP5 so I searched for that, this was the first result)

Well what do you know, he actually does stay pretty much on target for the whole thing. And when he uses burst fire, wait for it, ALL THREE SHOTS actually make it to the target (where in AOS the second shot would go three feet above the target). There's a reason why almost every soldier these days has automatic fire capabilities.

I dont like the damage to blocks that the smg does because you cant build anything, because ppl will shoot it down in seconds

@SneakyBastard: Are you out of your freakin' mind? The rifle should be nerfed more than it is already? You're clearly delusional... the SMG would end up MORE accurate than the rifle, which is obviously not just unrealistic but hugely unbalanced.

@asdfzxc: I only said the recoil was totally uncontrollable if you were a twelve-year-old CoD kiddie. It's more controllable than that for a trained soldier, which is what I'd generally assumed the players in AoS were supposed to be (except for Deuces, which are UNtrained soldiers). The range in that video was, what, twenty or twenty-five yards? At that sort of range, staying on target is quite possible, both in real life and in the current version of AoS.

If and when he can hit the target ten times in a row on full-auto at 75 yards, I'll admit the recoil on the SMG is too much.

Um, are serious. A trained marksman can easily keep 10 shots from a 9mm smg on target at 100 yards.

Even if not all 10 hit, it still doesn't affect aim like it does in game. A regular person can keep their shots somewhere near what they are aiming at, but in AoS after firing 30 shots you're staring at the sky.

It makes no sense, if you want to talk about realism. (not that realism has any role in a game like this)

@AxleTheNinja: I can stay on target through a whole magazine, but few of the shots will hit due to the built in randmoness of the SMG's shots. Just crouch and sight and you'll be fine.

Tell you what: Go out and fire an SMG for yourself and come back and tell me there's no recoil (in which case I'll accuse you of feeding me BS, because you will be). Man up and stop wishing for CoD.

Rifle needs more accuracy and SMG needs less block damage. End of story.

@Finshades: Exactly (although I wouldn't mind the SMG getting less accurate...).

AoS soldiers aren't trained to put up with the recoil unless you are. The point is you are the soldier.

Now that I think about it, the SMG would actually be fine if the recoil were a bit more predictable. Right now, even if you're manually compensating you'll probably still end up way off target because the recoil tends to push your aim left or right in addition to upward. If it were more consistently vertical it would be trivial to stay on target at close range.

I've noticed the lateral randomization as well, but it seems to average out for the most part. If I'm firing a longer burst and a trend develops I just move the mouse left or right slowly to compensate. Don't worry about where each individual shot is going... worry about the burst as a whole, tightening it down as much as possible on the target.

@Sneaky B: Rifle? Overpowered? Surely you jest?

@1337: Not all Deuces are untrained. I've seen a couple who managed to rack up around 40 - 80 kills, but I have to agree with you. Most of them just squeeze the trigger and expect nearly all their shots to score.

    *Sigh*

Word of advice, if you want realism, go for Operation Flashpoint.

If you want to run around like headless chickens shooting anything that moves (without the recoil), play something like Unreal Tournament or Quake.

AoS is good enough, for me at least.
