yes, schadenfreude triggers griefing most of the time, and how you feel about such behavior is a part of who you are.

griefing is a problem where it's not welcome, which is most if not all servers. it's selfish and ruins the fun for the majority who appreciate this game's intended design.

in a perfect world, griefers would congregate on their own turf.

unless it's not a build server, and there is a big unnecessary castle in A1, it's coming down. It's more of a statement than an action. This game isn't free minecraft (according to the developer of the game) and i'd like to push that fact before this game becomes a pseudo-CoD-MC monster with spawn traps, jails where you have to build something, show off your shooting aiming skills, and places where you have to gain approval from some random Admin to do anything.

This game isn't a fraternity and I refuse to do X task to play a decent game.

the freedom is definitely what i love most about this game, but ruining the fun for others just to entertain yourself is abusing it.

i experience the most intense battles when griefers aren't around, it's always when they show up that things get dull.

another cool thing about this game is that if you're unhappy about the way admins are running their servers, you're free to host your own!

Griefing important structures =/= griefing autistic structures that serve no purpose. I don't care when xXxGrieferTrololoxXx tears down a pretty mansion on the edge of the map that didn't serve any purpose. I don't care when the same person chops down trees. But when that person purposely tears down strategic structures simply for the reason of "being a dick" to see everybody's reactions so they can laugh, it's clear that they're experiencing schadenfreude.

I didn't say every single person who experiences schadenfreude has low self-esteem, I said research showed that somebody with low self-esteem was more likely than someone with high self-esteem to feel it.

It's like school bullies. Most of them actually have low self-esteem, so they taunt and hurt others to make themselves feel happy.

The ones that do it because they're bored, they're a different story, but they still do it for the same reason. To cause pain for others to relieve their boredom.

I don't do it for some kind of joy. I do play the game too, more frequently than grief as of late. I can build some pretty damn cool structures too. I have nothing to envy. I don't just go "I'm bored, time to trolol". I just do it. I'm not a psych ward case, I'm just a dick.

It was. I'm not being hypocritical though, because that's the only griefing I've ever admitted to doing and enjoying, since it was against reddit, a particular group of people.
