  • God I hate HTML code.
  •

I much prefer BBCode's [b]bold[/b] over < strong >strong< /strong > and all the other weird HTML codes. Does anyone else agree with me?

Better than having to use C++

    And I prefer using "[url=google.ca]text[/url]"

I think that we should do that kind of format. I'm too used to it from the the Bungie.net forums.

@Gregery Haha I too think that's the best format.

Agreed. HTML is too complicated, in my opinion.

How is it complicated? It's just simple markups..

@Mastur_Grunt, I'm guessing the C++ remark was a joke considering they're 2 totally different languages who server entirely different purposes.

HTML has way more versatility. Plus, I'm more used to coding pages in HTML than block. By the way, <b>bold</b> works in HTML, so aside from the tag markers it's exactly the same.

I've tried using <b></b> and <i></i> on these forums and neither of them worked for me. If they did, I wouldn't have made this thread.

Is there some sort of secret to it or something?

The only HTML tags I've found to work on the forums are link tags ("a href=URL", "/a"). <i>Italics</i> and <b>bold</b> don't work.

    Does this work?

Edit: Yes it does... "strong" tags work.

    How about <italics>this</italics> or <slant>this?</slant>

Nope... sad. I give up... how do you use italics?

    Let me try another format...

    <<<< Quoting 1337101 :---:

    Hmmm...

    >>>>

Nope. I give up... the coding for AoS forums comments is screwy.

That's the forum software at work then. Not all websites play nice with HTML code in posts.

Only limited HTML tags are allowed on the forum. BBCode is nothing more than a "layer" over HTML. It supports a predefined set of "tags" and essentially converts them into HTML. This helps keep unwanted tags and possible malicious content under control (such as <script>, <iframe>, and more).

@Stack: Yeah, I figured, but I was wondering why it didn't recognize the normal HTML tags. I can't see how <i>italics</i> would cause someone to get a trojan. Disallowing scripts, marquees, and font size and color changes makes the forums safer and nicer-looking, but the controls are really counterintuitive for me.

You can use < em > < /em > for italics, but why are codes like <b></b> and <i></i> disabled?

    Really?

Oh goodness yes. Thanks for that... but what does "em" have to do with italics?

em = emphasized text. it's the same as italics.

But I'm so used to typing <a href="></a>

I also just realized the "Allowed markup" thing over to the right sounds like it's trying to form a sentence.

"a blockquote code em strong ul ol li"

    Possibly translates to:
"A block, quoting them codes real strong-like. You loli." (read that in a redneck voice, it helps make more sense.)

I wonder if that was intended or on accident. I can't unhear that "you loli" part, now.
