To change your avatar,go to Gravatar.
http://en.gravatar.com/
1.Sign up with THE SAME EMAIL you used as the account to have here.
(Lets say my email was "[email protected]" and I used that email both on this account and Gravatar.)
2.Select your image/pic/avatar.
3.Wait a few minutes...
4.Now you have your avatar.

If you have any problems,repeat the steps.
If you STILL have problems,the post a topic about your problem in the help section/forum

I'd agree to that sticky part. Prolly include the guide on how to change IGN too. The two most asked questions ever.

But Kaede the name change directions comes with the read me text file, I don't see why we should make it much simpler for the new friends.

Nobody reads the readme. Nobody reads the forum guidelines either, but I'm sure they'd read a sticky if it said "HOW TO CHANGE AVATAR" or something on it.

So we should basically spoon feed them?

Well it's either that or answer their question every single time they post, which quite frankly, I'm getting a little tired of.

Just ignore them and let them do it their self or learn how to read, if they can't do that then too bad.

it's not that hard really
just make an account upload an avatar it will automaticly become the default for your email adress
you might have to fiddle with the options a bit mine gave me a little trouble
