    I think 20 blocks is too deep, on Lava damage pinpoint iw was 15 and almost everyone tunneled. Maybe like 6 blocks deep so there are tunnels, but they would be only a few feet short of the surface like in WW1, and there would still be room for 3 block deep trenches. Also, for basic trench design you should have them be 2 blocks wide and 3 blocks deep, with a step on the front so people can fire there rifles, or use the back to walk around without risking getting shot.

    Also, the map should start out with plenty of trees live trees, The type of fighting in Ace of spades combined with trench warfare would tear them to shreds fast (like in real life) Maybe make it so its 1 block to knock off the leaves and branches, but make the stumps reinforced so there still there.

    I don't know about live trees, because are people really gonna take the time to shoot off the leaves of a tree? It would just add to the atmosphere if they were dead.

    I said, make it only one block wide at one point so you can just knock them off real fast, but leave the stumps.

    I did read it all. What I meant by dead was a tree with branches without any leaves. I think it would fit the atmosphere better, but you couldn't really start with a live tree for that.

    The intel has to be the same for both sides due to game engine limitations. So, sadly, no different flags for each side.

    The brodie model... looks a bit too small with the brim not sticking out but it's a step in the right direction and will do for now. Sadly, the Germans would also have the same helmet thanks to game engine limits.

    I think dead trees and stumps would have more of that No Man's Land feel. Brown is the dominant color. Maybe 20 block is too deep. Maybe I'll go with 10. I actually prefer shallower maps for the most part.

    Many good ideas. Still digesting all of this. Give me a few days and it will suddenly
    "pop out" all at once if you know what I mean.

    Been running a test of this map for the past hour and I am actually surprised at how well it plays. Here's the link: aos://806476312

    There's some minor details that I might need to sort out, like the blue side's trenches came out with a little less depth than the green side but it hasn't affected gameplay much if at all. One thing I definitely need to add are some buildings to the rear of the trenches on both sides in the spawn areas. Currently, if an enemy gets behind your lines it's spawn camper city! I am debating whether or not to put a few ruined buildings in the middle area.

    It needs some editing and repainting. Still not sure if I am going to use this in the map but if you want something to do, there it is for you. Try to keep the treads dark and the make the tank olive drab. And maybe it could have a proper interior? There's a photo farther back in this thread for a guide. If you're not interested, that's okay too.

    wow the map is amazing but the only thing i would want to do is to add in the trenches/artillery shell holes a couple splotches where you could put water to slow you down in and to add feel - real trenches had lots of water problems and the artillery shell holes would contain water too but other than that amazing 8)

    TorchOF, you're actually right about the water in the bottom of shell holes. Some of the craters have that in my Urban Tank Fight map. People even complained about that, but then again people complain about everything. I usually tell them to go make their own map. Maybe I'll do it when I do a rebuilt version but, at least with the way I make maps, it's impossible to go back and add water.

    Awesome job on the map so far, I love the buildings and the shell craters. Are you going to add tanks later on?

    An how do you get terrain like that? If you used a height map, can you post the image of it, I just wanted to see how they look.
