They ruin the game, and idiots decide to counter hackers with their own hacks. What do? |
#186 tables Member Posted 13 years ago |
Make the game more secure, obviously. Until then, you just have to hope that people will be moremature than your average 12 year old and not hack. |

Mr.Wrinkle I'm going to have to dis-agree with you on your solution.... Hackers will always find a way to hack what we really need is admin powers to server host. That way the server host can dis-connect a bad player and griefers. This solution saves time and improves servers and is also very easily implemented (perma-ban on the other hand is harder to implement) |

So you're saying don't bother trying to fix hacking because "hackers gonna hack", and just implement admins? That's a terrible idea. Secure the game as a priority. |
#196 Ragrappy99 Member Posted 13 years ago |
Er, what hacks are in so far? I've seen nothing. I don't want to hack, simply curious at what they can do. |
#197 Praseli Member Posted 13 years ago |
Hackers can give themselves unlimited ammo, grenades, invincibility and super speed. Apparently it's because all the values for speed, ammo, health etc etc are stored "on the client". |

Why not make the game secure and have admin powers? |
#206 Megamannt125 Member Posted 13 years ago |
Having the server display the username and IP associated with an ID is almost enough for me to go into the firewall and block the tit, but the server doesn't even show that much :( |
#211 Naka lewd Posted 13 years ago |
I wonder if any hackers would volunteer details on their hacks so they can be fixed faster/more easily. |
#231 Superbest Member Posted 13 years ago |
Devs, having supposedly developed a videogame would already know exactly how people are hacking, don't worry about that. |
#232 Naka lewd Posted 13 years ago |
You've got a point. I guess we're pretty much waiting on a view/block IP feature then. |
#238 Superbest Member Posted 13 years ago |
I'm not going to detail how it's done here, for fear of even more of the little bastards popping up, but all that needs to be done to fix this is to move the memory values for HP/important stuff server side. If that's not possible, then there needs to be some type of check after damage is done, ammo is used, etc to make sure it properly lowers itself. If it doesn't, it should disconnect the client or something like that. Of course, that might disconnect legitimate players with lag issues. Oh, edit: The previously mentioned solution wouldn't stop admins from hacking, per se, but it's a step up. |

this game is dead to me until they implement player ban/kick |
#259 kratier Member Posted 13 years ago |
Same , what should be done asap is add kick/ban , but even better , votekick and voteban. This will help counter both hackers and griefers. |
#279 cLick Member Posted 13 years ago |
making the game "more secure" will increase instability and server load. Hackers will hack anyway, so you need to be able to deal with the hackers directly when they do it, not by trying to outhack the hackers. you'll lose and the ones who suffer are the users. It's the same sort of logic defending increasingly ridiculous levels of DRM in games "because piracy", even when it ends up locking legit users out. |
#349 deucebag Member Posted 13 years ago |
At the moment it is ridiculously easy to hack, as in you can just go in to a file and alter some values. It NEEDS to be more secure. Hell, it's hardly even "hacking"; just exploiting a non-existant security system. |
#352 Mr.Wrinkle Member Posted 13 years ago |
Yes hacking is a must-solve or the game will flop. |
