  • Why are there player limits on servers?
  •

I dun get it. Why cap it at 32? Why cap it at all?

If someone has a server that can handle more, why not let them host more?

because maps are only a certain size, you dont want them to be "overpopulated" imagine 200 people on pinpoint....

It would be a fucking disaster.

Plus more ppl = more lag

"9. Do you want to change the size of the maps? If so how big or small?

Not really... I'd like to increase playercounts to 64 one day though."

Yes, I'm aware DE. I don't think you know how to computer however.

I don't think 200 people have ever played AoS at the same time, but okay.

So why not allow the server host to set their own maximum cap? I'm sure that a host could determine how many players they could reliably host, and then set their own personal limit accordingly. Why limit them by forcing them to top out at 32?

It would only be laggy for the end user.

    Servers would cope.

You have to see it as a 32 FPS video.

Now make that 200 FPS and stream that.

^ Jackster, that was an absolutely horrible analogy. After the code is optimized, this game could easily support 64 players. It's not like it's never been done before.

I am on about 200 slots.

    64 is easy to handle.

I don't know, this game seems light enough. If it was programmed good, I don't see why not.

The game can handle 200 people.

^ No, the game cannot handle 200 people. Especially not right now it can't. My internet sure as hell can however. You have it backwards.

There is already a hack for this in Pyspades? Think the post said somthing like 64 was tested on a LAN and it worked OK. I would love to see more people allowed on servers if it does not cause lag.

I feel it would work, someone hosted a couple famous youtubers on a minecraft server and 800+ people were there online, even if it is a completely different game AoS probably do atleast 100.

oh and btw 200 people on Trenches would be epic.

it is possible to increase the player cap but these things will take time and they will need to be properly tested like all things that are considered to be put in any game

Why have a limit at all? if it lags the lower the limit (if youre the host) or leave and join an other server(if you just a player)

The hard limit for players plans to be increased later down the road once the netcode is a bit more polished. It's perfectly feasible.
