    I disagree with supertough blocks, but I understand how you feel... I've started making my temporary walls 2 blocks thick

    I don't really have a problem with stronger blocks, it seems like an alright idea to me

    but yeah, just make things thicker, that is what I would always do when making walls that a lot of people would shoot at, and now, it will be even more useful. I think the SMG is fine, my only complaint for it is I do not like the way the circle on the iron sight is shaded, but I will probably change that

    I am not saying the SMG sucks at killing PERIOD, I am saying it sucks at killing compared to the rifle! If you can aim (which I am guessing isnt the majority of the AoS community) then the rifle can kill people WAAAAAAAAAAY faster then the SMG, especially since the rifle is a one shot kill, and the SMG is at best a 3 shot kill (and thats if you get all headshots)

    I see no reason to use the SMG aside from destroying blocks, which the SMG does TOO well, and makes building anything more complx then a wall near impossible!

    Not to mention the rifle no longer has perfect accuracy, so if you get into a long range sniper battle with somebody whoever wins comes down to luck at whoever gets their bullet to fly straight first.

    The update sucks, period. (p.s. I am still pissed off at the messed up sights issue, that really needs to get fixed)

    TheOperator, obviusly you are being a tard and trying to kill people at long range with the smg, ITS A FUCKING CLOSE RANGE WEAPON, DONT USE IT ON A WIDE OPEN MAP, CAUSE A RIFLE USER WILL KILL YOU, BUT ON A CLOSE QUARTERS MAP, USE IT. jesus, from your "description" it sounds like you have only been sniping ppl with it for petes sake :/.

    @Alex: He was actually talking about the rifle as a long-range weapon...

    I want my old accuracy back. There's too much luck involved as it is now, and as someone who knows his way around a real rifle I can tell you that luck has nothing to do with anything under 500 yards. Leave luck to the SMGs, give the rifles their old accuracy back, please!

    I mostly agree with your dislike for the SMG. It's not possible to hold any straight line at all with it, it flails upwards too much.
    I'd much prefer less recoil, even if that means lessening the damage a teeny bit. Why?
    Because try and kill someone in a trench by using an SMG. Your first shot will even miss (or not detect), and the following ones are too high due to recoil.

    The big problem, is the hit detection.
    It affects SMG and Rifle. It is near impossible to take out campers, since the hits just don't register. I was doing 4 headshots several times with rifle, but with no kill.
    In my view (and the views of many in IRC), the hit detection should return to client, and different anti-cheat methods brought in.

    SMG is so awesome.

    When I happen to miss first headshot, there's no way they can hit me from that far.

    Damn it my net is still too slow to try it out- I still haven't been able to have a go at the SMG or 0.54. When I do though I'll be doing a very careful study of it indeed.

    Here are the things needed to fix the weapons.

    SMG - Halve the recoil, and increase damage to this
    head = 50
    body = 30
    arms= 20

    (that way it wont be outdone by the rifle anymore, since you just have to get one headshot to kill with a rifle but 3 with the SMG. Plus it will give it more use over long distance since itll b a 2 shot kill to the head)

    Block damage should be doubled, so 6 shots from the SMG are needed to destroy one block.

    Rifle - FIX THE DAMN ACCURACY SO ITS PINPOINT AGAIN!!!! Also, the aiming image needs to be fixed so it covers the entire screen like before.

    p.s. anybody who thinks the SMG is more deadly then the rifle AT ANY RANGE either sucks with the rifle or has never had to be in a CQC fight with somebody who is good with the rifle)

    Well, I never actually played with SMG, but I got to agree with the deadliness part - it doesn't matter how much they try, rifleman squad is always stronger than SMG.

    And about server-side hit detection, as Winston Churchill would say, it's not perfect, but it's the the best hit detection system available. ALL the things use it.

    BUT I agree it's a bit harder to headshot now. Not too much, but sometimes game leaves you with open mouth and target-not-hit-perfectly-between-those-goddamn-motherfucking-eyes, even when he's standing still and you are 100% sure you hit him. That never used to happen to me.

    WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO MY SCOPE? I have a custom one that worked before and as soon as I upgraded I could tell the image was distorted. Lines that were the same thickness were stretched and thinned. This is pretty fucking bullshit. Also all the problems with SMG, votekick, and the FUCKING LAG EVERYWHERE NOW. We waited this long for this steaming pile of shit? I'm disappointed.

    Yeah, he added new recoil animation, that zooms in when you shoot.

    Otherwise it's zoomed out, that causes inaccuracy and distortion.

    The only reason Mr. Freeze thinks nobody can aim is because he cant aim and thinks when he mises he missed because its normal for him to miss shots.

    While other players who CAN aim KNOW when they miss from missing and when there is something f&%$ed up with the game because they are so used to hitting things that they know where there bullet should be going in comparison to where they are aiming.

    I'm not to excited about the new update either. I have a ton of rants.

    I personally think the only purpose for the SMG is griefing. I beat multiple people in close range battles when they had an SMG and I had the rifle, probably because the rifle has a lot more power. The SMG has almost no power at all. the only thing good about it is that you can spray fire, but even then, it's wildly innacurate even if you crouch. And if you can handle the aiming, you'll run out of bullets in like 5 seconds anyway.

    I also experienced tons of lag. I'll shoot someone in the head 10 times with a rifle and they don't die, then they turn around and kill me with one shot. It's the worst when you're sniping. -.-

    If I had to add something else, it would be that the rifle has also lost precision. it simply doesn't shoot where you aim it. I used to be getting tons of headshots as a sniper in 0.52 but now I have to make up for the lost accuracy with the faster trigger.

    I personnaly think the Update was more of a downgrade. I liked the previous versions when everyone had the same gun and there was no lag, so the playing field was level and there were no advantages or disadvantages besides skill. Adding the SMG just ruined the game and the lag demolished it. It would have been better if they just updated the graphics off 0.52 and kept it like that.

    If you're going to cry about the SMG "ruining the game", then don't play, it's that simple.

    I love the SMG and battles are far more intense now (they also last longer due to the rifle's lowered of accuracy).

    That's how I solved autoclimb. Not good solution.

    Primary use of SMG is griefing, then making holes in enemy forts (that take, of course, 5 sec fix), and then atmosphere. Nothing else.

    Not against people who can use rifles effectively. I doubt you can kill someone with SMG in less than 2 seconds.

    I can kill people way faster and more efficiently with the rifle then the smg. Not only that, but the rifle OBJECTIVELY kills people faster, y'know...considering you can kill people in one shot.

    The only thing the SMG does is ruin the atmosphere of the game, and make it easier to grief.

    ...wasn't that the point? Had the SMG's effectiveness been pushed any further in the opposite direction, the very same people crying about its perceived uselessness would by whining about its unfairness.

    I feel bad for you Ben, but good job none the less.

    And I've easily been able to kill someone in less than two seconds, even in the laggy/buggy 0.53 pre-release.

    Any one Decent with an SMG shouldn't be dumbenough to go 1v1 to a rifle in the fog. Wait him out, dig in. DO SOME thing else. GO some where else.

    Buddy system IMO.

    I think the new fullyautomatic Sub-Machine-Drill is of great importance. Riflers get their little SMG friends in close to a fort and cut away some walls, thrown nades in and rock the place SEAL style. I build walls 3 blocks thick when i really want to stop some one now. Its worked great because i also defend those walls up close with the SMG. oops, sorry about your tunnle, green. I just filled it with lead.

    The problem i'm having is in fact the Registration of these shots i make with the rifle. While usually its fine i still have a few "..uh.. what?" moments. Nades aren't doing me much good right now so i probably need to re-adjust my throwing for the new SMG rush.
