^theres an idea, make it so it can't destroy blocks. Thus, it is fair. It should have ironsights, really. People generally don't go 'I am unable to look down the sights of this because it is a hand gun'. But if you make it a little inaccurate (somewhere between 0.54 rifle and SMG) it should balance that. Besides, the ranges people are suggesting mean that it's pretty useless at range anyway, so ironsights won't change anything. |

It should be a 1911 (with iron sights). You should automatically have it in addition to the grenades (until they make a revolver then you would choose between them at the start up). 12 round mags (holding 5 total 12 round mags with you(60 total rounds) Fast reload Medium range Low recoil High rate of fire (higher than semi but not as fast as you can click) Head 40 damage body 30 damage limbs 25 damage (4 shots to destroy blocks) |

@underdog: As for the topic, a sidearm would be interesting, though I think there should be a gap before adding huge things now - gonna take a while to get used to the 0.58 changes. I like the idea generally, though. |

^ Nade's are very short range, and very limited in their effectiveness especially if your in a tunnel, id rather have a pistol then a hand-grenade while underground in a tight tunnel. |

I'd personally like a Colt Model 1911, the WW1 version. But it's up to Ben. I know this game is not supposed to be 100% realistic, but I say; The damage is simply necessarily high, since it IS a fat, slow moving bullet. It'll be handicapped by sights that are hard to aim with at long range, medium-heavy recoil, and low capacity. I would LOVE to see this added in game. It should be standard with every weapon, with a possible exception to the shotgun, since it's more of a "Raiding" weapon, and should have some sort of timed charge with it. |

First of all, don't whine when your suggestion thread isn't getting as much traffic as you want. That's a good way to get people to lose interest fast. secondly this claim: You have grenades as normal and change to the sidearm by pressing a different key, but this takes away the whole tactics idea by making everyone totally versatile which makes gameplay a lil bit more basic, and less risky. ...couldn't be more wrong. Just because we'd have both doesn't mean we're wielding both at the same time. It'd be up to the player to decide what to hold in hand at any given moment- and the freedom to choose what they'll use at any moment based on the situation they're in at the time makes the game less basic, and more tactical. As for the pistol itself, it doesn't really faze me either way as I probably wouldn't use it. |

Two things: 1.Sidearm Side It sucks for a reason: it's not a main gun. Being a sidearm, it should normally lose to a main gun. 2. You can't make the sidearm shoot as fast as you can click, because everyone would bind shoot to the mouse wheel. |

@kahn wtf why jetpacks? i completly disagree with that. We desperately need sidearms. I am constantly running out of ammo when im burried into a hill and sniping. im like OSHIT and i have to walk ALL the way back to the tent for more ammo or die. I completely agree we need a sidearm. |

@Beret im not saying hold both at the same time, by having the option to use grenades AND a sidearm it makes the player a whole lot more versatile. They can use nades throwing into cover, or if they run out of ammo they can then switch to the sidearm. This means the player is capapble of adapting to way more possible situations, making them more versatile, taking away the tacticality of making decisions before entering the gameplay. An therefore making gameplay more basic as less tactics are involved. @beret I didnt whine, I was joking around, at the time I was talking to <@> mods and ben in the IRC and jokingly said it wasnt getting enough attention. |

@pvt ryan Im not introducing it as a main weapon, the function of the sidearm in AoS would be when your main gun runs out of ammo, you can switch to the weak last resort sidearm and hopefully make a few more kills before you die, or get you that much closer to the intel etc. |

I say that the side-arm should be much weaker, 'cause no one would pick the nades anymore if the sidearm did more damage then the smg, then no one would pick the smg either, but i also think the sidearm should be slow, have infinite ammo, but every ten shots you would reload, the damage on the parts of the body should be: |

D.E I think it would be cool but the damage on head must be 60 because a headshot is instant kill but compared to the giant head that would be really easy. Then you put 60 head and the other normal stuff. Remember that this game is World at War 2 and not Modern Warfare so a colt 1911 would not be added soon as it don't exists. Ben should add a anaconda pistol or something more on the past. But cool ideia bro! Peace! =D |
